Alenka Pirman: NINTH COROMANDEL
Exhibition in Studio 6, SCCA-Ljubljana (4. 11. - 9. 12.)
The exhibition The Ninth Coromandel was inspired by the contact between two utopian places, the encounter of The Ninth Land (Deveta dežela; 1878) written by Josip Stritar and The India Coromandel (Indija Komandija; 1884) by Anton Mahnič, which was further developed by other visions of different, good and evil, positive and negative fictitious places and descriptions.
The exhibition was curated by Petra Kapš.

S'PAJKANJE
Exhibition in the Ljubljana Kolodvor Library (2 - 23 September 2009)
The subject of the exhibition was the metal wall spider, an ornament that has been adorning the walls od Slovenian homes for almost 60 years, in the meantime becoming so commonplace that it gets overlooked even by its owners and their neighbours. The geographical, technological and design characteristics of this unique Slovenian house ornament were presented, including several examples, originating from Kropa, Baška grapa, Celje, Rogaška Slatina and Ljubljana.

MULTIKULTI-TOOMODERN SIMPOSIUM

DOMESTIC SPIDER
Crazycurators Biennial II, Bratislava (3 October - 2 November 2008)
DDR has decided to research and chronicle the manufacturing process of sheet-metal spiders currently found on house fronts, along with their types and attitudes to them before this indigenous ornate animal becomes extinct. Spiders on facades are not common anymore because people's mentality has changed, the school curriculum has been redesigned, tastes have altered and old houses have been renovated with cameras and automatic lights for protection.

Bojan Gorenec: CAPTAIN AND SAILOR
Exhibition in Škuc Gallery (2 - 7 October 2008)
The artist interpreted the scenes from the Matthew Barney's Cremaster Cycle. He created drawings and paintings, which were presented in the form of 43 ink-jet prints All of his work, including textual and visual, was aimed at testing the limits of authorship and shaping the author's autonomy.

Goran Medjugorac: IVIKŠN
Exhibition in the Cabinet (26 September - 12 October 2008)
Between December 2006 and August 2007 the artist worked as a locksmith for a repossession company in London. His job was to break into a property being repossessed, causing no damage to the doors or windows, take photos of the property, clean it and change the locks. The job had to be done quickly and cleanly so that the person living in the property had no chance of thinking and resisting. On a 'good day' he would make 5 properties per day. The installation was based on the artist's archive of 11,300 digital photos.

ARTWORK
Škuc Gallery and Celje Centre of Contemporary Arts (since 2007)
Domestic Research Society, Škuc Gallery and Celje Centre of Contemporary Arts prepared a joint long-term project, which focuses on individual works of art. This year we are featuring three lectures by Dunja Kukovec, Jože Barši, and Miklavž Komelj.
DRS's WINTER STOCK
Exhibition in the Cabinet (21 July - 3 September 2008)
Since the Society was established in 2004, various artistic and research projects have been stuck on the shelves, in cellars and workshops of the members of DRS. Once carried out, these endeavours are destined to hibernate in warehouses. For this exhibition we blew the dust off the main works and put them together as if stockpiling winter supplies. We opened up the containers of pickled artworks and prepared for the feast.

Wd8 SECURITY
All too long have we neglected the security of the Domestic Research Society's Cabinet. The situation was attended to in April 2008 by Cym from Austrian Wd8.

Alexei Monroe and DDR: JELENOMETRIJA
The Cabinet, research exhibition (4 October - 15 November 2007)
Jelenometry was produced by Domestic Research Society and cultural theorist Alexei Monroe. One of its objectives was to test whether the >symbolic Stag< can withstand the intensive repetition and abuse it is subject to in visual culture and other fields. The project represents a hunt for the symbolic Stag, which has generated its own specialist vocabulary and an in-depth analysis conducted on the borders of natural science, humanities and art.

INDIJA
http://www.indija.si/ (since September 2007)
Indija is the Domestic Research Society's online bookshelf. Here you can find texts that have been chosen with care and with a feeling for the time and place in which we operate. The name is borrowed from the Slovene folk expression Indija Koromandija, referring to a mythical utopian land "flowing with milk and honey." Because our project is not utopian but sustainable we simply dropped the Koromandija part.
Irena Romih: DISTENDED CABINET
The Cabinet (29 June - 15 September 2007)
For the Cabinet the artist has prepared a spatial installation, which derived from the characteristics of this remote space. The title intended to be a description of a feeling she attempted to arouse by means of forms arching into space. With strips of plywood, she wove tense forms. They arouse associations of cocoons, bloated bellies, something that expands and overcomes space. The compressed, black, chamber space of the Cabinet was the perfect breeding ground for this.

SPECIMEN
The Cabinet (9 November 2006 - 16 May 2007)
The exhibition was based on the natural history and art history research of the odd creatures and animals. Parasitism, mimicry, symbiosis, evolution, domestication and postdomestication, and other specialised terms stand for the specific adaptations of the animals, and were displayed in the Cabinet's bestiary. The exhibition was enhanced with the special care of the Škuc Gallery garden.

Alenka Pirman: ON VOCATION II. ROG TEACHINGS
The Cabinet (12 September - 10 October 2006)
The author decided to verify the format of silent lectures in an analogue environment. This lecture was based on the archives of the former bicycle factory Rog in Ljubljana, which became a temporary artistic and social centre. The randomly chosen documents were taken out of the context and their content was transformed in order to be viewed as a metaphor for the artistic vocation. The work was created in situ in august and september.

FOLK MUSEUM OF NANI POLJANEC
The Cabinet (11 - 25 May 2006)
The exhibition of the artefacts from the rich collections of Nani Poljanec. Nani is a photographer, poet, actor, collector of antiques, chef, fashion designer, cultural event manager, journalist, 'ethno pomp artist', and a self-proclaimed 'folk creator' from Rogaška Slatina. His work will be concluded in 2069 when he will die and thus obtain the PhD on folk creativity.

ALTERNATIONS / SHUT YOUR EYES AND WATCH
The Cabinet (14 - 22 March 2006)
Alternations is a stop-motion animation that presents spatial transformations of The Cabinet. Shut Your Eyes and Watch, however, is an animation made in PowerPoint and makes part of the Alenka Pirman's Silent Lecture's series.
The screenings were part of the Interrupted Histories exhibition (Museum of Modern Art Ljubljana).

ANIMALS 1914 - 1918
Screenings in TIC, Kobarid (2 December 2005)
Thematic show on participation of animals in unhuman war (World war I.) was based on research digital material gathered by members of Domestic Research Society. The research has shown that animals on a battle field are not autonomus, but are, one way or another victims or winners of conditions that were forced to them by humankind. They are not friends, nor enemies, they don't know about duty nor about the noble cause, they are not good nor bad, they just are.
LA CAPILLA ATOMICA
The Cabinet (27 October - 28 November 2005)
The display draws on a documentary and artefacts found in Los Alamos, New Mexico (USA).
Atomic chapel is a branch of the First Church of High Technology. Its highest priest is Ed Grothus aka Atomic Ed, a retired machinist, owner of a technological junk emporium named Black Hole and an anti-nuclear activist.
THE CABINET
Modular display laboratory (since October 2005)
The Cabinet is a temporary exhibiting space dedicated to the presentation of the projects by the Domestic Research Society's members and guests. The basic unit is a black cube. The simple construction allows various modifications of the architectural environment.
Since October 2005 it resides in the abandoned premises in the courtyard of the Škuc Gallery in Ljubljana.
